The Tucson Climate Action Network’s mission is to gather interested parties, build coalitions, and provide factual and timely information while supporting and empowering those who are drawn to Climate activism.

About us
TuCAN had its beginning in 2012 as a climate activist support group, incubating activism for the 350.org initiative and the Citizen’s Climate Lobby. 
In its current incarnation as a website, TuCAN has been re-created to amplify Climate Action messaging within the philosophy of Energy Democracy. It is specifically supporting the City of Tucson’s Climate Action Plan, Community Choice Energy, and helping to craft the next Franchise Agreement with Tucson Electric Power. TuCAN was a presence online and at community events helping to defeat Proposition 412. It is a member of the Greater Tucson Climate Coalition.

Energy Democracy

Energy democracy calls for expanding public participation in the renewable energy transition and the broader functionings of the energy sector. In doing so, advocates argue that energy policy and decision-making will better incorporate local knowledge and the environmental justice concerns of local communities.
